5.0 out of 5 stars Inexpensive coffee maker is classy and delivers on all fronts., March 16, 2011

This GE percolator makes the best coffee I have ever had. I was tired of the weak, bitter brew from my Krups auto-drip so I thought I would give this model a try. I couldn't have been more surprised.

Here are some features worth noting:
*Great tasting coffee!
*Brews with lots of pressure - gets the most out of your beans.
*Does NOT burn your coffee when it's warming.
*Nifty green light indicator pops on when the coffee is ready.
*Handy see-through dome lets you see the coffee cycling.
*Beautiful in appearance.
*Easy to clean.
*Has water level indicator.
*Never once allowed coffee grains into my cup! NOT ONCE! Please grind your beans larger for percolators. That's one of my pet peeves. People complain about percolators but they grind their beans too fine.

If I had one complaint for GE (VOC GE...pay attention!) it would be the water level indicator. A nice revision for the percolator would be an easier... Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Lid is plastic on the inside, April 18, 2011
This review is from: GE 12 Cup Percolator
Cool looking percolator, but the glass lid is encased in plastic on the inside. Too bad. I do not want plastic contaminating my coffee. Also, there is an uncovered nut and bolt sticking out inside the pot at the top - anchoring the handle. Food grade stainless steel nut and bolt? Think not since this pot is made in China. Returned.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Coffee, January 27, 2011
This review is from: GE 12 Cup Percolator
I just purchased this percolator so I can't review how it wears, but so far I like it! It is very easy to use and makes a wonderful cup of coffee. I used my regular pre ground coffee at the regular amount that I used in my old automatic coffee maker. It came out stronger than in the old pot, so in the future I will be using less coffee. Since it requires less coffee and no filter, I wonder why these aren't used more frequently? Great Product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Coffee Perc out there........., February 1, 2007
This review is from: Coleman 14-Cup Enamelware Coffee Percolator (Sports)
This enamel coffee percolator is a really well thought out and built item. The pot and lid is constructed of enameled steel and the stem and basket is aluminium. The perc knob is clear glass, sealed with a gasket in the lid allowing one to easily see the color of the coffee as it percs to determine when your perference of coffee strength is reached. I have used mine for years with only one very minor problem. The aluminium stem that holds the coffee grind basket got slightly bent, but I successfully bent it back into place without damage. As noted by another reviewer... these aluminium items are weak. However, what are these items designed to do, and what strength holding a basket of perking coffee grinds might be required? I bent the stem trying to stuff a small bag of coffee grinds and the bag of filters into the pot with the stem in place, for storage. That was 100% my fault, not that of the product. I quickly learned that the coffee pot is NOT for storage, but for... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE IT!, January 26, 2007
This review is from: Coleman 14-Cup Enamelware Coffee Percolator (Sports)
I bought this coffee pot for home use in utter disgust with drip coffee makers. Having had three different drip coffee makers stop working in one year, I decided to go with something tried and true. And while you can't set it up to turn on by itself, I will never have to replace it again. The color is beautiful. It is a snap to clean up (just throw it in the dishwasher). And, the coffee tastes so much better. I now use less than half the amount of coffee grounds needed by a drip maker and am getting more flavorful, robust coffee and no bitterness. I guess this is one thing that modern technology can't top. I will never go back to and electric coffee maker.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hard working little water heater, July 29, 2007
This review is from: European Travel Water Heater (Apparel)
I am very pleased with the performance of this water heater. I have burnt up coils before, in just a few days, so I was reluctant to spend the money. I'm glad that I did. This heater worked fabulously on a 3 week trip to Peru at 220 voltage, and a week in Jamaica at 110, and is still going strong. It can bring water to boiling surprisingly fast. It takes up very little space in the suitcase too. I'm taking this baby with me everywhere I travel.

I looooove this gadget! It heats water real quick and it's very lightweight. I am a flight attendant and I fly international and in most foreign countries other than UK and France it is hard to find a Water Heater in the room. It's dual voltage so its a plus for me. I put it in a little puch and throw it in my suitcase and there we go. It's very lightweight and the cord wraps around it nicely. Also it brought a little 110 plug, how sweet. It's been already to Africa and Paris, not that you can't get a great cup of cafe au lait in Paris. But it's very convenient while I'm getting ready having a nice cup of tea or coffee. Haven't tried for soups yet,but I guess it'll do the trick as well.I totally recomend it.

My wife and I travel 3-5 times a year. We both enjoy either tea or flavored coffees. Hotels and cruise ships do fine for delivering ready made coffee, but hot water is not always hot. By the time it goes into their thermos or pot, then is poured into a cold ceramic cup/mug, it is not at all piping hot! So, we either run water through the coffee maker without coffee and get that wonderful acidy after taste, or use the luke warm water provided.

This little travel pot is great. It is faster than our previous Frantz unit, and works perfect. The first dozen or so uses had a plastic tasting flavor, but we seem to have worked past that. Weight is not bad, size is minimal, and the piece nest together nicely for packing in a suitcase. The voltage can adapt to whatever country you are in, and we've never not been able to use it. Hotels, cruise ships, even bed and breakfasts. This unit gives us the flexibility to have morning or afternoon coffee at our leisure, and to... Read more
